It was my Birthday last week and I can’t think of a better way to spend the day than baking myself a cake! I don’t often get to bake exactly what I want, the cakes I usually do are for customers, so it’s really enjoyable to find a new recipe and experiment with some new designs. I am a peanut butter addict, so when I saw this recipe in Olive magazine, I had to make it! Click here for the scrummy recipe.

Last year was a busy year and I didn’t get round to uploading photos of most of the cakes I baked. October and November were especially busy – with Emily’s 1st Birthday too. We had a small family party on the weekend of her Birthday and I made a baby friendly cake to eat – chocolate and beetroot. I wanted to do something woodland or owl themed and something where all the decorations could be made in advance, so this design was perfect. I had seen an idea on Pinterest and added some extras and changed a few things to make it fit the theme of the party. Click  here to see more details of this cake and the yummy recipe.

I went through a phase a couple of years ago of making minion cakes. Since then the minion baking has been limited but I’ve been wanting to make some cupcakes like these for a while. So for Tom’s hockey match a month ago I made a batch of yellow minions with 2 evil purple minions. It was a bit of a rush so I shoved them in the box without managing to get any good photos. I really wanted to share them on the blog so I decided to make them again! Me want banana!->

P1210008If you like our Facebook page you’ll have seen that a month ago today, Becky gave birth to a beautiful baby girl – Emily Charlotte Phillips! I took the first opportunity I had to go down and meet her. I wanted to take down a cake, so with the help of mum (who made the rocky road cake for me!) I created this very rushed cake. Click here to meet little Emily!

Every year for Tom’s birthday I make him a cake. This year it’s a bit late since we were on holiday but I promised I’d make him something to take to work when we got back. It took a while to come up with an idea but I went through a list of things Tom likes and cakes I’ve made, and realised I’ve never made him a cheese-related cake. More cheese please!
