I’ve always wanted to have a go at making fondant fancies and a few weeks ago it was my friend Karen’s 30th Birthday and all the food for the party was kids party themed, so this was the perfect opportunity to give them a go. I definitely need a lot more practise as they aren’t the easiest thing to make, but I had a bit of fun trying them out. The party food was great –  I can’t remember the last time I had Skips or cheese and pineapple on sticks – amazing! Click here for the recipe.

IMG_3596Last week on Friday we got home from work to find a bowl full of eggs fresh on our doorstep, from our neighbours. I decided that in return for the eggs, I would bake them some cupcakes. One of the best things about making larger cakes and unusual shaped cakes are all the off cuts! Cakes always need levelling off or shaping, so there are plenty of opportunities to do a taste test. Having made several large cakes recently I have ended up with loads of left over cake. So I have been making lots of cake pops and I now have a freezer filled with around 200 to be used and decorated at some point in the future.
