Last year was a busy year and I didn’t get round to uploading photos of most of the cakes I baked. October and November were especially busy – with Emily’s 1st Birthday too. We had a small family party on the weekend of her Birthday and I made a baby friendly cake to eat – chocolate and beetroot. I wanted to do something woodland or owl themed and something where all the decorations could be made in advance, so this design was perfect. Over the last few months, lots of my friends have had babies. Having just had a baby myself 4 months ago, I know how crazy the first few days and weeks can be. I love making presents for people and a box of cupcakes seemed perfect for any new parents – especially useful to have something to offer any visitors or for those days when things are so chaotic that all you manage to eat is a cupcake for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Just before Christmas I was very excited to be asked to be a God Mother and also excited about being asked to do the Christening cake. The top tier of Matt and Beckie’s wedding cake had been stored for a couple of years, so I spent a few weeks feeding it with brandy before decorating it. I love the grey and yellow elephant theme they chose and had been asked to do a similar themed baby shower cake for the week before, you can see the cake here.
