IMG_0925This week has been a busy cake week. I usually find that if somebody asks me to make a cake, it usually ends up being for a week when I’m already making one. This week I’ve made two very different cakes, but both had a football theme. The first one I made was this one – a Sunderland football shirt.

IMG_2702For the last few years Becky has done lots of baking for her running club and always tries to make the baking in the running club colours – red and yellow.  So when Tom joined a hockey club up here I decided I would start doing some team-colour themed baking for him. His hockey team, JPC HC, plays in blue and yellow and the first thing that came into my mind was minions – I’ve clearly made too many minion cakes! Is it possible to make too many minions?

20130730-190902.jpg I seem to have made a lot of things over the last couple of months, but not really blogged much… so I think it’s time to catch up with some of the things I’ve made! These are slightly out of date now given I made them during the Wimbledon fortnight but given its still summer/tennis season, I think they’re still relevant. Want a snack to keep you going while you’re playing tennis?

20130728-195953.jpg My best friend, Nic, asked me a while ago if I could make a cake for her dad, Clive, for his 60th birthday. Of course, I said yes! My Uncle Pe-pe is currently cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End with his brother-in-law Tim. He’s not going at quite the same speed as the Tour de France but then he’s not a cyclist, they’re not having any rest days and they don’t have a support crew following them so they are cycling with all their kit and camping, so he’s doing an amazing job! Rather than just donating, I decided to use a tiny amount of the money I was going to donate (less than £5) to make some cakes to raise a bit more money… and that’s when I came up with these cupcakes. My big sister turned 30 last weekend – HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECKY!! I wanted her to a have a really special day and of course, that included making her a birthday cake she would never forget. Like me, she loves baking and decorating cakes so she probably would have liked to make her own, but when I saw a picture of this cake here a while ago I knew straight away that I had to make it for her – she’s a triathlete so what could be more appropriate than a 3 tier triathlon cake?! If she feels that she’s missed out on the baking and decorating, I guess I’ll let her make mine in a couple of years! Click here to keep reading.
