A couple of years ago we hosted Christmas with my sister-in-law, hubby and our nephew, I wanted to make a chocolate log but really wanted to make something slightly different. One of my favourite flavours is chocolate orange which feels like quite a Christmassy flavour, so I adapted a chocolate log recipe and this was the result! Click
I used Mary Berry’s chocolate roulade recipe and added lots of orange zest and coated in chocolate orange ganache. Mary Berry’s recipe can be found here. The ganache was made with 50% dark chocolate and 50% double cream with lots of orange zest added to the cream while I heated it, then before adding the chocolate i passed it through a sieve. It was left to cool till it was spreadable.
I made the orange peel decorations using a peeler and zester to create long strips of orange zest that I wrapped around wooden spoon handles and put on a baking tray before placing in the oven and baking at a low temperature till they were dried out.
The log tasted delicious and was a great alternative to Christmas pudding!
