As Em made my wedding cake, it was my turn to return the favour and make her cake. Keep reading to find out more about her cake and one of the recipes.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt’s been a while since Em and added something new to our page, but we’ve still been busy doing plenty of baking! A couple of weeks ago my friends James and Amelia got married and I was thrilled to be asked to make their wedding cake for them. It’s great to be asked to make a cake that’s completely different from anything I’ve done before, so I was very excited when James and Amelia found a photo of a silhouette wedding cake that they really liked. IMG_4570Last weekend I went to the wedding of Rob and Sian – Sian and I grew up in the same village and we’ve known each other since we were about 3 years old. As well as being invited to the wedding, I got to make the cake. Tom and I had a great time at the wedding – everything about the day was perfect. Keep reading.

A couple of months ago I made my first wedding cake of 2016 and the first since little Emily arrived. The design that Helen and Nick came up with was quite dramatic and worked beautifully with the theme of their wedding. Helen is English, so the cake had some large red roses and Nick is from New Zealand, so some ferns were also included in the design. Click here to see some more pics of this stand out cake.

IMG_0229Just before Christmas last year, a family friend, Emma, asked if I would be able to make her wedding cake. Despite not living near where the wedding was going to be I said yes since it was near my parents so I thought it would be a good chance to go back to my parents for a few days. However, that didn’t happen – instead mum, dad and Becky came up to stay with me for a few days and then took the cake back. Becky even assembled the cake for me! Click here to keep reading.

cake cornerThis wedding cake was a last minute favour for somebody at work. Luckily though, I didn’t have to make the cake, just ice and decorate an 11″ square fruit. It was a single tier cake and I loved the simplicity of the design they chose – a white cake with purple and lilac flowers around the base.

P1170661I love a bit of piping, so when I managed to convince my manager at work that I should make his wedding cake, I was really pleased to find out that the design they wanted was very rustic and two tiers would be completely covered in piped swirls.  Click here to keep reading about this rustic cake.

photo 4 (2)A couple of weeks ago Aimée, one of my friends from work got married. She asked me/I offered to make her wedding cake. As with most of the other wedding cakes I’ve made, she said she wanted something “simple”. Based on past experience “simple” often doesn’t end up being simple! So I searched on Pinterest for “simple purple wedding cake” and showed a couple to her – surprisingly she picked the simplest one. Click here to keep reading.

Last weekend was my sister-in-laws wedding and I couldn’t have been more excited! When we arrived at my mother-in-laws on Wednesday evening, it felt just like Christmas, with all the excitement and anticipation of the big day. There’s something really special about a family wedding. I was over the moon to be asked to do the cake and when the design was chosen I was really pleased to discover that it was something different to anything I had attempted before.

Cake
I’ve been busy making a friends wedding cake over the last few weeks, so I haven’t had much time to bake anything else, so this week I am going to tell you about the most interesting Wedding cake I have made, inspired by the oak trees surrounding the venue in Richmond Park. Here’s what I made…
