
It’s that time of year again, the Great British Bake Off is back! We are all looking forward to seeing how this year’s contestants get on and trying some new recipes when we try all the technical challenges. So here’s the first one, click here to see how we got on making these fondant fancies.

Now the girls are a bit older it’s definitely getting easier baking with them, although being a bit of a control freak about getting things perfect there are still a few things that I have to do! But they helped with weighing out ingredients, mixing and filling things and of course licking out the bowls!

The recipe can be found here. The recipe was super easy until we got to the decorating stage, then it all got very messy! I decided the best way to do it was to pour the icing over the fondant fancies and then collect the excess and re-pour over the next batch, it worked but made a big sticky mess and there was plenty of icing left over. They tasted pretty good, although we all thought they could do with more jam layered between the sponge.
