It’s definitely now one of our Christmas traditions to give our best friends Matt and Beckie a Christmas cake as a Christmas present. I love being able to decorate an extra Christmas cake and choose a silly design that will make Ellie and Freddie smile! Click here to see which recipe I used this year.

I was asked to create a cake for one of the Mum’s from Chloe’s old pre-school for her new baby daughters Christening. She had several ideas but was undecided on exactly what she wanted. So I designed a cake based on a few separate ideas that hopefully ticked all the boxes! Click here to see more pics of this gorgeous girly cake.

Several months before Chloe’s 3rd Birthday she suddenly announced one morning that she wanted a panda Birthday cake. She’s always loved pandas, just like Emily and her favourite cuddly toy is a panda too. But we hadn’t really talked about Birthday cakes and I don’t think she knew that Emily had a panda cake for her 3rd Birthday too! She was also specific and wanted clouds and turquoise balloons on her cake. Click here to see what I made.

Over Easter weekend it was our Grandma’s 90th Birthday and to celebrate we had a wonderful family weekend together. It all started with a surprise Birthday lunch for Grandma followed by tea and cake of course! Making cakes for the family is always special, particularly this time as Emma and I were always fascinated by the sugar flowers that Grandma used to make, so it was really lovely to be able to make some for her. Click here to see some more photos of this pretty cake.

I always seem to get asked on my Birthday “Are you baking your own cake?” and the answer is always “YES!” I love baking and it’s the one cake a year where I get to do exactly what I want! So this year I made the banoffee cake which was in March’s Olive magazine and chose a design that was simple but elegant. Click here for the scrummy recipe.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAJust over a month ago it was Emily’s 3rd Birthday. Being a typical 3 year old she was changing her mind every day about what kind of party and cake she wanted, slightly tricky when trying to plan things! Her favourite cuddly toy is her panda and so when I suggested that she had a panda themed party and cake, she seemed very excited and the idea stuck, phew! She takes after both her Aunties with her love of pandas. She asked for the cake to have a Mummy panda, a Daddy panda and and Emily panda on as well as some bamboo, so I did a bit of research and came up with a design. Click here to take a look at the panda cake.

We’ve had a really busy couple of months with various wedding cakes and visiting friends and family, so I made the most of a quiet 20 mins earlier while Emily was watching Stickman to write about the cupcakes I made for everyone when we visited friends this weekend. The wedding cake I made a couple of weeks ago had 2 tiers of coffee cake in and I tried a Hummingbird recipe that sounded like it would give an amazing coffee hit. The cake was so good that I decided to make some coffee cupcakes for this weekend too. Click here to take a look at the Hummingbird Bakery’s espresso cupcake recipe.
