Several months before Chloe’s 3rd Birthday she suddenly announced one morning that she wanted a panda Birthday cake. She’s always loved pandas, just like Emily and her favourite cuddly toy is a panda too. But we hadn’t really talked about Birthday cakes and I don’t think she knew that Emily had a panda cake for her 3rd Birthday too! She was also specific and wanted clouds and turquoise balloons on her cake. Click here to see what I made.
Luckily I had kept the hard fondant pandas I made for Emily’s panda cake 3 years ago, so I reused them for Chloe’s cake, it saved a lot of time! I made several balloons in various shade of turquoise and some matching bunting and a number 3 and decorated some of them with spots. These were cut out using round piping nozzles.
The top tier was a dummy tier as we already had loads of cake left from Emily’s and Rich’s Birthdays. The bottom tier was a caramel cake with salted caramel in between the layers and covered with chocolate ganache. It was so lovely to see Chloe’s face light up when she saw the cake, she absolutely loved it!
