It’s definitely now one of our Christmas traditions to give our best friends Matt and Beckie a Christmas cake as a Christmas present. I love being able to decorate an extra Christmas cake and choose a silly design that will make Ellie and Freddie smile! Click here to see which recipe I used this year.

I usually make Delia Smith’s Christmas cake, but every so often a new recipe pops up and I’ll give it a go, this year the Christmas cake recipe in the December Sainsbury’s Magazine sounded too good to resist, so I made two! Cherry and Amaretto flavour fruit cake, yum! The recipe can be found here.

I felt very organised this year and the week I made all of the cake decorations for Chloe’s Birthday cake, I also made all the silly red Santa hats for Matt and Beckie’s cake and the houses for our Christmas cake (photos to follow shortly). Which meant that decorating the cake was very quick, I covered the cake with marzipan, then a week later iced it with white sugar paste and glued the silly Santa hats in place with edible glue. Then added the ribbon and writing to finish it off. Super cute and silly!

So very cute!
