I’m feeling a bit behind with Christmas stuff this year, but priority is always to get the Christmas cakes done. I wanted to make a different shaped one this year so I thought I would make a big snowman. Click here to keep reading.

I baked two small 6” cakes and one 5” cake for the head. I then used some cheap fondant to make the sides more rounded and shape the head. Next I coloured some sugar paste red and some green and rolled it out to cut to shape. I used a non fluffy jumper with a knitted pattern on and placed it on top of the sugar paste and used a rolling pin to roll the jumper into the sugar paste to make the pattern.

The hat was made from a large piece of sugar paste draped over and shaped into a hat shape. I used a polystyrene ball that I covered with white sugar paste and once it had dried I painted it gold for the bell. I used a silicone button mould to make the 3 buttons and the carrot was made from sugar florist paste with a wire inserted to hold it in place.
