Earlier in the year I made an Easter cake and Halloween cake for charity raffles in the office. I decided that I would offer to make a Christmas cake. I had no idea how I was going to decorate, but for some reason I decided that when I got home after my Christmas party it was a good time to start decorating it! After a quick search on Pinterest I found a cake that looked quite quick to make so I based it on that.
It was a traditional square fruit cake which I trimmed to create a rectangle – Tom was very happy about this when he realised that he gets to eat some of it! I covered it in marzipan and ivory icing. The bed frame was made from flower paste so that it would set hard, and dusted with petal dust to give it a wood effect.
Everything else was shaped out of sugar paste – the body under the duvet was made from brown sugar paste leftover from icing the board! The naughty list was an after thought – to cover up a rip in the blanket I made. I also painted the holly on right at the end. If I’d have thought about it at the start I would have painted it on before I stuck the naughty list on top!
Merry Christmas! I hope your name isn’t in the naughty list…
