I can’t believe that this years bake off has now finished! I really enjoyed watching it and thought the new presenters were great and I was really pleased with the result, Sophie throughly deserved to win! I’m actually feeling quite relieved that all the technical challenges are now done and I can start to think about Christmas baking. So
This was probably my ideal technical challenge – we love ginger biscuits, they are easy to make gluten free and royal icing is one of my favourite things to do!
The biscuits were really easy to make (recipe can be found here) but I have no idea how they were expected to ice them in the time they were given. I love royal icing as I find it really therapeutic, but I couldn’t have done it under the time pressure, it look me hours to do!
The end result was some very pretty biscuits that took hours to make and minutes to eat, they didn’t last long! I’m now looking forward to doing some fun baking projects over the next few months, but have really enjoyed attempting to bake things that I wouldn’t usually try. It’s always good to try new recipes and I’ve enjoyed experimenting with doing some of the bakes gluten free and have been surprised by the success – no excuse not to try some more gluten free patisserie now!
You’ve executed the icing so beautifully. I agree that the time pressure was crazy, I’m not surprised none of them finished!
