It’s been way too long since we last blogged about anything so I thought as I haven’t done much baking this year yet, I would find something fun that I made last year. I had totally forgotten about these cool aeroplane cupcakes that I made as a present for Emily’s key worker at nursery last year as she was leaving to go travelling to Australia. Click
I started by using white sugar florist paste to make all the little windows, tails and propellers so they could dry out and go hard before sticking them on to the body of the plane. I used various piping nozzles to cut different sized circles for the windows. For the tail and wings I cut rectangular shapes and then used a round nozzle to make the rounded edges. The propellers were made using small petal cutters to cut two petals which were then secured in place with two small circles of white sugar paste.
Once the cakes had cooled I piped pale blue butter cream on top and used small and larger sized pearl balls in a line around the butter cream to give the cloud affect out of the back of the plane. Finally I made some discs with Thank You on them too.
