I think I must be one of the only people who actually liked blancmange when I was little! So this recipe definitely appealed and sounded very yummy. I had a bit of help from Emily with the biscuits, but it was a tricky one for a toddler to do! Click
Prue’s recipe can be found here. The recipe was easy to follow, but I was a bit surprised that it said the blancmange needed 6 hours (or overnight) to set, so the poor bakers in the tent really were cutting it fine trying to get it to set in time. I used the bundt tin that I have at home as I figured it wasn’t too dissimilar to the jelly mould that they used on the Bake Off.
I didn’t manage to buy any rose petals, but have a beautiful pink rose in my front garden, so thought I would just pick one and use it as it’s flowering at the moment. But when I went outside this morning there was only one rose left as with all the wind and rain over night the rest of the roses had all lost their petals! Luckily one small rose was enough and I managed to make the crystalised petals by dipping them in egg white, then in sugar and letting them dry. The blancmange and biscuits were delicious, so much nicer that the one we used to eat as kids, definitely something I would make again!
