The year following the arrival of Emily was a busy year of cake baking for me (although I was too busy to blog and upload any photos, so I’m playing catch up now!), having made lots of new local Mummy friends, I suddenly found myself being asked to make 1st Birthday cakes and Christening cakes! Kids Birthday cakes are always fun to make, full of bright colours and interesting characters and this one was no exception. Click
If you haven’t seen an episode of ‘In the Night Garden’ there are lots of weird and wonderful characters, Upsy Daisy and Igglepiggle are the two characters on top of the cake. They were great fun to make. The most time consuming thing about the cake was mixing all the different colours in the sugar florists paste, it took forever! But once it was coloured I really enjoyed doing each character and adding all the details to the cake. Definitely one of the most colourful cakes I’ve made, perfect for a 1st Birthday!
