Gloverly Cupcakes

Emily turned 7 a week ago so as well as the bake off challenges I have been busy making her cake and decorations. She had a joint Birthday party with two of her best friends this year, it was a gymnastics and trampoline party. So Emily decided she wanted a cake to fit in with the theme of the party and her two friends love gymnastics too. Click here to see this special cake.

I asked Emily to come up with some cake design ideas with her friends, including what to put on the cake and the colours. They decided they each wanted to be represented on the cake and be wearing leotards that were sunset colours. They also each wanted to be on different gym apparatus. Eeek, they set the bar pretty high!

So I set about creating mini gymnasts, one on the beam, one by the parallel bars and one doing the splits on the floor (Emily). The girls also chose to have yellow or orange bows in their hair and I managed to do french plaits too!

I made the leotards in yellow and used an orange petal dust to create the ombré effect. I had some peach shimmer dust which worked perfectly to give the girls shimmery leotards too. I piped the dots on the leotards with royal icing and a few finishing touches on the rosette and floor mat too. The girls absolutely loved their cake, especially seeing themselves created out of icing! Happy 7th Birthday!
