I nearly always end up giving people cupcakes or homemade goodies as presents. I quite often make a big batch of cupcakes and freeze them if I know I have things coming up where I might need to take a gift. Then I will make 6 or 12 decorations specifically for the event/friend. I bought 2 elephant cookie cutters several years ago and the little ones are perfect size for the top of cupcakes. I cut out 6 grey elephants and left them a few days to dry out. Then I used an edible black pen to draw on the eyes and tail.
I used the big side of a piping nozzle to cut some circles out of pink sugar paste for the ears which I then cut in half. I used some edible white dust mixed with water to make a paste which I used to paint on the little white dots. These were then stuck on using edible glue. I love making decorations in advance, so they can just be added to the top of an iced cupcake when needed.
