I love being asked to make something a little bit different so I was very excited to be asked to make a cake in the design of the Birthday girls favourite ice cream dress! I spent some time looking at various ice cream cake designs and came up with a plan, click here to see more pics of this fun cake.
Below is a photo of the Birthday girl’s favourite dress, I decided to make a tall cake and cover it with sugar paste the same colour as the dress. Then add ice creams around the outside just like the dress.
I made the ice cream cones from sugar florist paste and the little strawberries and cherries too. I also made some mini ice creams to go on the cake board. I whipped up some vanilla buttercream that I divided into 5 bowls and coloured each one to match the ice creams on the dress. I attached the hardened ice cream cones to the outside of the cake and carefully piped a swirl of ice cream buttercream on top before adding the strawberry or cherry.
