Raspberry Blowing Minion

I’ve made 3 minion cakes now, and I’m aware my blog is starting to look a bit like it’s been taken over by minions, but it turns out that everyone loves a minion cake so I keep getting asked to make them! So here is the third one I made. Minion number four will be created this weekend so I thought I should put up some photos of this one to spread them out a bit… I don’t like making the same thing more than once so I’ve tried to make all the minions a bit different. This one was a mini one – I say mini because it wasn’t as big as the other two. It was still big enough to serve about 12-16 people! When Tom asked if I had time to make another minion for one of the nurses I tried to think of different things I could do and the maid instantly came to mind. However, Tom then said it was for a boy so I decided that it might not be completely appropriate. Instead, I decided I’d try to recreate, in cake form, the minion blowing a raspberry…. I think I just about captured it – from certain angles he definitely looked like he was blowing a raspberry. I made him in exactly the same as the first minion, but stuck a couple of offcuts of cake to make his cheeks. For instructions on how to make a minion click here.

  Hi, I’m afraid it’s just a hobby of mine, not a business! I normally just make them for family and friends – if you live near Birmingham UK though I might consider it!

Hi,
What size cakes did you use and how much icing? I’m interested in making one but I don’t want to do anything wrong!

  hey, sorry for the delay – had a bit of a break from blogging! I’ve made 2 sizes in the past – this was a “small” one so I used 4″ tins and 1 batch of cupcake mixture (see my vanilla flutterby cupcakes) and 1 batch of the buttercream from that page too – hope that helps!
