One of my friend’s, Kiri, asked me if I could do some baking for a hen do she was organising last weekend. I don’t like to declining baking opportunities so I said yes. However, given all the running around I’ve been doing recently I didn’t have much time. So what was going to be biscuits and girly cupcakes ended up being these.
Kiri mentioned that she had a silly chicken costume for the bride-to-be to wear at some point during the weekend so I nearly made some chick cupcakes like I made at Easter. But given the time restraints I decided it was best to make the decorations while the cupcakes were baking/cooling. These hens were the quickest hen do related decorations I could think of – the photo above shows the steps for making them. I made 2 different sized hens but I made them all in the same way. The only thing that’s not obvious from the photo is that you need to stick everything on using a paintbrush dipped in water. And when it comes to sticking the red bits and the beaks on, stick all the red bits on first and do the beaks last.
I’m looking forward to a couple of weeks time when I’ll have more time to start baking properly again!
