It’s been a while since a minion has appeared on here so I thought it was about time I posted the last one I made (about 7 months ago now!). This is probably my favourite minion and I’d been waiting for somebody to ask me to make it so I was very excited when my Auntie Sarah asked if I’d be able to make one for my cousin Molly for her birthday. After I’d finished it I was really pleased with it, especially the expression – I made the body the same way as the other minions – full instructions for the basic minion cake can be found here. The body, legs/shoes, arms, hair and eyes/glasses were all made in the same way as the other minions. However, instead of putting blue dungarees on him I made a wide strip of black fondant icing to go all the way round as a dress/apron. I then made 2 thin strips for the straps and stuck them on above where the arms were to go. The lace was all edible – I had it left over from some previous cakes I’d made so I just cut it up into the shapes I needed and stuck a thin strip around the bottom of the apron, a few bits along the top of the straps and a a couple of bits as a detail on the front of the apron. I rolled out a thin sausage of white icing to all the way around the top of the apron and tied it in a bow at the front.
The headband wad made from a thick strip of icing. I stuck thin white florist wires into it and weaved a strip of lace round them so that it stood upright on top of the head. I used a small round cutter to cut out a perfect circle for the mouth and added a small black circle of fondant in place of it, which I pushed in so that it looked deeper than the yellow. I pressed his cheeks in slightly when I stuck his hands on to give him an excited cheeky look!
Awesome!! 🙂
thanks 🙂 can’t believe it’s taken me so long to put it on the blog!
I’m surprised Joe hasn’t asked you to make a cycling themed cake…although he probably wouldn’t be able to bring himself to eat it haha 🙂
haha, I’m sure one can be arranged at some point!
