I can’t believe it’s nearly the end of this years bake off! One more technical challenge to go. I ended up buying the tin for this weeks challenge – you can never have too many cake tins and I am sure I will use it again as it’s a very pretty shape. It’s been a bit of a crazy week as it was Emily’s 1st Birthday last Thursdays, so I had a very important Birthday cake to make which took priority, so I am only getting round to doing this now. Click
There were a lot of different steps for this recipe and I hadn’t made one before. It sounded interesting so I was keen to try it. I made the dough and left it to rise, it didn’t rise much, but put it in the tin anyway as I was running out of time. It rose more for it’s 2nd prove, but not as much as I was hoping. The result wasn’t the best – it didn’t rise very evenly, but smelt pretty good.
Annoyingly my sugar thermometer wasn’t working for my 1st batch of caramel and it suddenly went dark brown even though the thermometer said 140C. So I made a 2nd batch with a different thermometer and it worked. So all in all it wasn’t the greatest thing I have every made, so it had better taste good! Time for dinner and a slice of Savarin for pudding!
