Today I have spent all day decorating my own Christmas cake – it took way longer than planned but I’m pleased with the finished cake. I’ll hopefully post it later in the week, but first, here is a cake I made for the office for a charity raffle last week.
I was asked if I’d be willing to make a cake for a charity raffle this month, similar to the cake I made last year. I’d already made a couple of fruit cakes so I decided I could use one of them. The design was one I made last year, although last year’s effort wasn’t half as good – I threw it together in about 15 minutes for Tom to take to work at the last minute!
I was much happier with this version since I spent a whole evening doing it. Santa was probably the most time consuming item to make since I rolled thin lengths of icing to make his beard rather than pipe it with the royal icing – royal icing would have been much quicker but I decided it was worth the extra time to make it from sugar paste.
Hopefully it will help raise lots of money for this month’s charity in the office – Changing Lives.
