I had so much fun designing a cake and cupcakes with all the elements from the book and trying to make all the food so it looked like the illustrations. All the decorations were made several weeks in advance to allow them time to dry out and go nice and hard, especially as some of them needed to stand up. They were made using sugar florists paste.
My favourite bit was making the actual caterpillar, although it was quite tricky to try and get all the pieces to stick together. I used edible glue, but next time I would probably use a wire through the middle to help hold it all in place.
