
A few weeks ago we had friends to stay for the weekend, I was hoping that the technical challenge would be something suitable for dessert on Saturday night so I was very pleased when we watched episode 4 to see that it would be the perfect pudding!

The sponge was very simple to make, the recipe can be found here. I had never made sprinkles before and the girls were very keen to help out and see what it involved. We mixed up all the colours of icing and I made some little piping bags which I filled and then the girls piped as many lines as they could across the baking trays.

Once the icing had baked and cooled down the girls crumbled them up to make the sprinkles which we used to decorate the cake. They were a bit of fun to try out, but I don’t think we’ll be making them again! The cake was absolutely delicious with the warm custard, it definitely reminded us of school puddings, but a lot tastier!
