We are massive fans of the Great British Bake Off and I keep meaning to have a go at some of the technical challenges to see just how hard they are. So when my parents came to visit and bought along loads of home grown pears I thought I would take the opportunity to challenge my Mum and myself to have a go at baking Paul Hollywood’s mini pear pies.
Mum had made hers at the weekend, so the pressure was on for me to try them this week, she had already texted photos of each stage of the process and they looked pretty good! The recipe can be found here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/mini_pear_pies_77186 It was nice and easy to follow and the actual making and baking time in between all the cooking and cooling doesn’t take long. But I can imagine on the bake off, with limited instructions and the added pressure, it’s a lot harder. The smell from the poaching pears was wonderful, slightly Christmassy!
I had plenty of time, so made sure the pears were completely cooled before attempting to cover with pastry. The final result was brilliant, the pastry was lovely and the home grown pears were fantastic, I would definitely make them again. So who won? You decide!
Wow they look amazing!! You’re both talented 🙂
Thanks 🙂
