This week was bread week on the Great British Bake Off and it was another great episode! I don’t bake much bread as Rich can’t really have gluten, so I was a bit nervous about doing this weeks technical challenge. I was relieved to see it looked like a simple loaf to make, or so I thought. Click
Paul’s recipe can be found here. My first attempt started well, it doubled in size nicely on its first prove and I was happy with the shape of my loaf. Then I went out to collect Emily from nursery while it had its second prove, I thought it would be good timing as I could then pop it in the oven when I got back. Unfortunately it over proved and by the time I got home it was quite flat! I still baked it and it tasted lovely, but it didn’t look anything like a cottage loaf.
So the next morning I had another go. Luckily this time I was in the house during its second prove and it was already looking good at 35 mins so I put it in the oven to bake. This time it worked, phew! We now have lots of home made bread to enjoy over the weekend.
