We were very much looking forward to bread week! We eat a lot of bread in our house, I bake bread anywhere between 2-6 times a week. Up until a few years ago I rarely made bread as Rich didn’t really eat gluten so had had very little bread making experience. But now Rich is eating it again and I am totally addicted to bread making. I had Chloe as my little helper this week, click here to see how we got on.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThis week was bread week on the Great British Bake Off and it was another great episode! I don’t bake much bread as Rich can’t really have gluten, so I was a bit nervous about doing this weeks technical challenge. I was relieved to see it looked like a simple loaf to make, or so I thought. Click  here to see how I got on.

Time for another technical challenge! A slightly unusual one this week, like all the other contestants I hadn’t heard of dampfnudeln either. I love making bread, but I don’t really do it very often as my hubby can’t really eat gluten. Mary Berry said these are a bit like iced buns, so I thought they would probably still be suitable for me to take to the baby group on Thursday morning and rather than making the plum puree and vanilla sauce, I thought I would just put some icing on top instead and hope that the Mums and Dads at the group aren’t too disappointed that they haven’t got any cakes or biscuits this week. P1200517I bake quite a lot of gluten-free cakes for my running club as there are several people that follow a gluten-free diet, so I was interested to see what this week challenge would be. When I saw that it was bread, all I could think about were the horrible gluten-free flat breads I had tried to make a few years ago, which were like cardboard! I didn’t think I would ever be making gluten-free bread again… Click here to see how I got on this time round.

P1200438On the Great British Bake Off last week, it was bread week. The technical challenge was to make 4 baguettes. I do bake my own bread, but not as often as I would like to and I usually end up making a white, wholemeal or granary loaf for the weekend and to put in the freezer. I bought Paul Hollywoods book ‘How to Bake’ a few months ago and I have made a few things from it, with varying success! So my bread making experience is fairly limited. But I love a challenge and really enjoy trying out new things, so click here to find out how I got on.
