It’s actually quite a relief that this is the penultimate week of the Great British Bake Off! I have loved doing all the technical challenges and trying things I wouldn’t normally have had a go at, but I’m also looking forward to doing some of my own baking too. I love patisserie but rarely attempt any as it really is very time consuming. We are away this weekend, so I volunteered to bring dessert – perfect excuse to give this a go! Click
I was in and out the house for most of the day so this was done in loads of stages when I had time, which actually worked quite well with the puff pastry. Finally once the girls were in bed I managed to finish the final few bits and assemble it in time for pudding. The recipe can be found here.
Everything seemed to go quite smoothly which was good, the only difference was that I didn’t have the right nozzle for piping, but I don’t think that really matters! I was really happy with the end result, especially how neatly the profiteroles fitted onto the puff pastry sheets. We ate all the left overs and pastry off cuts in a Eton mess style version for our pudding, it tasted delicious, the crunch from the caramel on top of the profiteroles was scrummy. If I ever have a whole day free to make a desert, I’d definitely make it again, although chances of that happening are pretty slim!
