We were all very excited for the start of the new series of the Great British Bake Off last week. And even more excited when we found out the technical challenge was the iconic chocolate cake with the missing raspberry! We had no plans for Sunday afternoon so it was the perfect opportunity to give this a go with the girls. Click here to see how we got on.

The girls helped measure out all the ingredients and of course very much enjoyed licking the spatulas with all the chocolate fudge mixture on! Click here for Paul’s recipe.

We made the ganache and I did end up putting it in the fridge to cool it down as the kitchen was just too warm. I also put the cake into the freezer to cool it quicker too! I wouldn’t usually do this, but otherwise it wouldn’t have cooled quickly enough for the girls to have some at tea time. I arranged the raspberries carefully on a plate and then the girls each took it in turns to put a circle at a time around the cake, starting with the one in the middle. And of course we had to have a missing one too! The cake was absolutely delicious, Emily loved it so much she has asked to have it for her Birthday cake in a few weeks time!
