I have to admit, that like all contestants on the GBBO, I have never made a souffle! I love to eat them, but for some reason, I have never got round to making one, so this week I was actually a bit nervous – especially as you regularly see failed souffles on cookery programmes. Click
My parents had come down to stay for the weekend, so it was the perfect thing to make for desert on Saturday night. But after a busy day of gardening and DIY, we ended up eating quite late, so by the time the souffle was ready it was 10.30pm!
The recipe was much easier than I thought it was going to be – click here for the recipe. I was very careful when folding in the egg whites and tried to get rid of all the lumps of egg whites without knocking all the air out. I didn’t managage to get every bit of egg white mixed in, but luckily once it was cooked, you couldn’t see any of it.
Just like the bake off contestants, I spent a lot of the evening watching the oven. It was great to see it rise above the top of the dish, it had worked! The result was super, it tasted amazing and was well worth the wait!
