This week on the Bake Off it was biscuit week. Some of the showstoppers were amazing – I have chickens so I was very tempted to try to create a biscuit Chicken! But I’ve stuck with the technical challenge this week which was fig rolls, something I haven’t had for years.

This challenge was actually a lot easier than last weeks. There wasn’t anything too technical and they were quick to make. I didn’t try to stick to the time – I made them around doing other things so the fig mixture/biscuit dough had longer to chill which might have helped make it easier.

The recipe was pretty straight forward and easy to follow. The only thing I would do differently next time is to give the knife a really good clean in between cutting each one. The fig mixture ends up on the biscuit which then browned a lot quicker (even though I did try to wipe them a bit).

They are quite different to shop bought fig rolls – more filling, definitely not as sweet and they have more texture (the shop bought ones don’t have seeds in) – but they are really tasty!
