I always make a Yule log at Christmas although at the moment I haven’t found a favourite recipe, so I am keen to keep trying some new ones. Last year I chose a white chocolate, orange and cranberry flavoured one and adapted a couple of recipes to make it, click here to see the full recipe.

Woo hoo, GBBO is back! I’m not sure if I was more excited or if the girls were. Over the summer they sneaked down one night after bedtime and saw Rich and I watching the Bake Off the Professionals, not surprisingly they loved it and started watching it, they then discovered there’s a junior GBBO too. They can’t get enough of it all! We are all looking forward to the new series and trying plenty of new recipes again. So here’s our first technical challenge.

I love being asked to make something a little bit different so I was very excited to be asked to make a cake in the design of the Birthday girls favourite ice cream dress! I always try to make the girls teachers and teaching assistants some cupcakes for Christmas, this year I bought some mini candy canes and decided to use those to decorate the cupcakes with. And of course they had to be candy cane flavoured cupcakes too. Click here to keep reading.

It was Chloe’s 5th Birthday at the end of November and once again she was very specific about the cake she wanted! She chose a bunny design with pink, blue and purple flowers and requested the bake off chocolate fudge cake with some salted caramel between each layer – good choice Chloe! It was Emily’s 8th Birthday a couple of weeks ago and this year she decided she wanted a Welsh rugby ball cake. She also wanted the Bake Off chocolate fudge cake as it was so yummy, so I managed to reshape the left over huge cake from week 1 of the Bake Off and turn it into rugby ball. Perfect!
