Where do I start? This weekend my sister Becky came up to stay and we had a non-stop baking weekend so I’ve got so many things to blog about. I’m going to start with these shoes. Our first baking project was to make a cake for Kiri’s birthday party on Saturday night. Kiri LOVES shoes so when she asked me to make a birthday cake for her I knew exactly what I would make. I’d seen a photo of cupcake shoes on this website ages ago and I’d been looking for a reason to make them – Kiri’s birthday was the perfect occasion. Fancy some edible Jimmy Choos?

Orangeade Cupcakes

Last week, I played in a uni hockey tournament after work. The day before I asked people in the office what flavour cupcakes I should make to keep us going. James suggested “Lucozade” and Kiri suggested “half time orange” cupcakes. So I went with Orangeade – I bought a sample pack of Soda Stream syrups when I made some Cola cupcakes a while ago and I hadn’t used any of the other flavours yet so I decided to give the orange one a go. In the office, if you go on holiday you’re meant to bring back “goodies” from wherever you go. On Thursday I headed over to Germany to see Tom and then as a surprise took him to Prague for the weekend for his 30th birthday! I’ve been away for nearly a week and I left the country so in theory I should probably have brought something back. However, I didn’t. Instead, I made these Toblerone cupcakes with a giant Toblerone which technically I didn’t even buy – Tom bought me the weekend before when he came back home! If you want a Toblerone cupcake, carry on reading!

Anybody who lives in the UK will know that this summer (if you can call it that), it rained pretty much constantly. Spring seemed to just turn into autumn, with only a couple of warm sunny days in between. The bad weather is what inspired these cupcakes, so I guess something good came out of the bad weather. If you want to brighten up your day with some cupcakes, keep reading…

For the “trick or treaters” that came to my house this evening, at the weekend I made some Halloween biscuits. I made cats, ghosts, pumpkins and owls – but I ran out of time to decorate them all so I only finished off the ghosts and cats in time. Maybe I’ll get around to decorating the others this weekend! Trick or Treat? If you want a treat keep reading…

This weekend I decided to have a cooking weekend – I did a roast chicken, made two different types of soup, baked muffins for breakfast, made the Christmas cake, baked and (half) decorated some Halloween cookies, and I also made these… chocolate orange pumpkin cupcakes.

So it’s time for the fourth and final instalment of my cocktail cupcakes: Brandy Alexander. I appear to only have one decent photo of these cupcakes – maybe I was too tired after making and decorating four lots of cupcakes but if you want to find out how to make them then carry on reading here.
White Russian Cupcakes

I wanted to make two fruity cocktails and two non-fruity so after asking a few people for suggestions, I decided on White Russian as one of the non-fruity ones. I don’t think I’ve ever had it before as a cocktail but it sounded good to me in cupcake form! I did a quick google search and came across a recipe on Baked Perfection. Want to sample another cocktail? If so, click here!
Pina Colada Cupcakes

Since I’ve got four cocktail cupcakes to write about, here’s the next one… Pina Colada! Again, these were from The Hummingbird Bakery Cake Days. There are 4 different mini cocktail cupcake recipes in the book and I made three of them – I didn’t make the Strawberry Daiquiri ones since my birthday is in February and although I probably could have got hold of strawberries (since you seem to be able to get any fruit at any time of year these days) I decided that they probably wouldn’t be that tasty so instead opted for White Russian ones. Ready for another cocktail?
