Owl Woodland Cake

Last year was a busy year and I didn’t get round to uploading photos of most of the cakes I baked. October and November were especially busy – with Emily’s 1st Birthday too. We had a small family party on the weekend of her Birthday and I made a baby friendly cake to eat – chocolate and beetroot. I wanted to do something woodland or owl themed and something where all the decorations could be made in advance, so this design was perfect. I had seen an idea on Pinterest and added some extras and changed a few things to make it fit the theme of the party. Click here to see more details of this cake and the yummy recipe.

Last weekend we had a Reunion/ Christmas get together with our NCT friends, which we offered to host. Baking with a 7 week old baby is challenging, but I was desperate to bake something Christmassy and fun!   I chose a design that could be done in stages so I could fit it in around looking after little Emily. Click here to see what I baked.

I have to admit, that like all contestants on the GBBO, I have never made a souffle! I love to eat them, but for some reason, I have never got round to making one, so this week I was actually a bit nervous – especially as you regularly see failed souffles on cookery programmes. Click here to see if I rose to the challenge.

When I was little, every night before bed I would ask to be read the same book: The Very Hungry Caterpillar. For some reason it was my favourite book – maybe because it was all about food! What did the Very Hungry Caterpillar eat today?
