Having done every challenge last week and then this week we had Emily’s Birthday on Friday, lunch out on Saturday and a huge chocolate cake to eat, I decided that just doing half the recipe was enough! We were all very excited for the start of the new series of the Great British Bake Off last week. And even more excited when we found out the technical challenge was the iconic chocolate cake with the missing raspberry! I keep buying Terry’s Chocolate Oranges to make this recipe, but then we end up eating them and I have to buy more! Chocolate orange is one of my favourite flavours, so I was very excited to see this recipe in Decembers Sainsbury’s magazine, a great recipe to make with the girls too. I love the idea of popping some gingerbread men into some rocky road, such a fun idea! I made a big batch of gingerbread the other day, so have been using it to make various things including the gingerbread men for this rocky road, it’s so Christmassy and makes the house smell amazing when it’s baking. I can’t believe there are only 10 days till Christmas, I’m not sure where the time has gone! Finally getting round to doing some Christmas baking and really enjoying trying out some new recipes. Making fudge is a really simple easy thing to do for homemade Christmas presents and it keeps for ages, so it’s perfect for giving to friends and family over the next couple of weeks. I’d love to have more time to try some patisserie stuff, I love watching Bake Off the Professionals and seeing some of the amazing patisserie things they do. It’s all so precise and they have lots of clever equipment too! These deserts were perfectly timed with Rich’s Birthday, so they made a tasty treat for pudding on Saturday night. On Sunday we finally got around to having Chloe’s Baptism, 2.5 years later than planned due to covid etc. But it was worth the wait, we had a wonderful weekend with family and Godparents.
