I’d love to have more time to try some patisserie stuff, I love watching Bake Off the Professionals and seeing some of the amazing patisserie things they do. It’s all so precise and they have lots of clever equipment too! These deserts were perfectly timed with Rich’s Birthday, so they made a tasty treat for pudding on Saturday night. I always try to anticipate what the technical challenge is each week to make sure I have the ingredients delivered in our online shop on Monday night or have planned to incorporate it into the weekly meal plan. It looked like the bakers were stir frying vegetables and the only thing I could think of using pastry and stir fried veg were spring rolls. We love spring rolls, but I wasn’t really feeling very enthusiastic about making them, I think it was the thought of rolling out the super thin pastry dough. Click here to keep reading.

Rich absolutely loves ice cream, so for his Birthday last year I decided to have a go at a melted ice cream drip cake. Not my usual style of cake, but I bought a special scraper to make striped in buttercream and had never used it, so thought this was a good opportunity to give it a go.
