Kid’s Birthday cakes are always fun to make, this one however was a little tricky! I had never made a horse before and didn’t really know where to start. I did a lot of research and did a bit of practise and was finally happy with giving it a go, click here to see how I got on.
On Sunday we finally got around to having Chloe’s Baptism, 2.5 years later than planned due to covid etc. But it was worth the wait, we had a wonderful weekend with family and Godparents. I wanted to make a really special cake and loved the cake I made for my niece Alice, so I decided to make something similar. Click here to see some more photos of this magical cake.
I was asked to create a cake for one of the Mum’s from Chloe’s old pre-school for her new baby daughters Christening. She had several ideas but was undecided on exactly what she wanted. So I designed a cake based on a few separate ideas that hopefully ticked all the boxes! Click here to see more pics of this gorgeous girly cake.
I made a cake a couple of years ago with a Jemima Puddle Duck on top for a friends daughters Christening. And a couple of years on I was lucky enough to be asked to make a Christening cake for their second daughter, this time with Peter Rabbit on top. Keep reading to see some more pics of this cute cake.
Rich absolutely loves ice cream, so for his Birthday last year I decided to have a go at a melted ice cream drip cake. Not my usual style of cake, but I bought a special scraper to make striped in buttercream and had never used it, so thought this was a good opportunity to give it a go. It was Dad’s 70th Birthday in the middle of August and he treated us all to a wonderful week away. Em and I discussed various ideas for his Birthday cake design and finally settled on a lawn mowing themed cake as Dad absolutely loves his lawn and mowing beautiful stripes into it! It was always something that we joked about as did his friends and neighbours too! Click here to find out more about this cake.
Emily turned 7 a week ago so as well as the bake off challenges I have been busy making her cake and decorations. She had a joint Birthday party with two of her best friends this year, it was a gymnastics and trampoline party. So Emily decided she wanted a cake to fit in with the theme of the party and her two friends love gymnastics too. Click here to see this special cake.
Em and Mark finally got married in June this year after several postponements due to Covid, but it was worth the wait! It was such an amazing day and we all have some very special memories of it. As Em made my wedding cake, it was my turn to return the favour and make her cake. Keep reading to find out more about her cake and one of the recipes.
I love being creative and designing cakes, especially kids one as they are so much fun! So when a neighbour asked me to make a cake for her daughter’s first Birthday I was so excited! Click here to see my design.
Several months before Chloe’s 3rd Birthday she suddenly announced one morning that she wanted a panda Birthday cake. She’s always loved pandas, just like Emily and her favourite cuddly toy is a panda too. But we hadn’t really talked about Birthday cakes and I don’t think she knew that Emily had a panda cake for her 3rd Birthday too! She was also specific and wanted clouds and turquoise balloons on her cake. Click here to see what I made.
