It was my Birthday last week, so it was time to bake myself a cake and try out some new recipes. I really don’t mind making my own Birthday cake and it gave me the opportunity to try something new. Click here to see which recipe I chose.

Alice In Wonderland Pocket Watch Macarons

If you follow us on Facebook and/or Twitter you’ll probably have seen some baking over the last 12 months that hasn’t made it onto the blog. Sometimes we spend so much time baking that it’s hard to find the time to blog about our creations, especially since we also work…. Click here to find out what else we got up to last year.

P1210008If you like our Facebook page you’ll have seen that a month ago today, Becky gave birth to a beautiful baby girl – Emily Charlotte Phillips! I took the first opportunity I had to go down and meet her. I wanted to take down a cake, so with the help of mum (who made the rocky road cake for me!) I created this very rushed cake. Cheese Cake

Every year for Tom’s birthday I make him a cake. This year it’s a bit late since we were on holiday but I promised I’d make him something to take to work when we got back. It took a while to come up with an idea but I went through a list of things Tom likes and cakes I’ve made, and realised I’ve never made him a cheese-related cake. More cheese please!

I had my parents coming to visit this weekend as well as a few other friends popping over to visit, so this weeks Bake Off technical challenge was perfect, it meant that I had a yummy cake to offer everyone! I make quite a lot of fruit cakes, so I was keen to try this recipe to see how it compares. I have made my own marzipan a few times, but I have never made my own sugar paste, so this would be another thing to tick off the list. Click here to see how I got on.

Despite not living near where the wedding was going to be I said yes since it was near my parents so I thought it would be a good chance to go back to my parents for a few days. However, that didn’t happen – instead mum, dad and Becky came up to stay with me for a few days and then took the cake back. Becky even assembled the cake for me! Click here to keep reading.

Noah's Ark Christening Cake

Noah’s Ark Christening Cake

A few weeks ago I made a Christening cake for my friends Chloe and Rory’s sons Christening. They had the lovely idea of a Noah’s Ark cake. I took some inspiration from Pinterest and had an enormous amount of fun creating this cake! Click here to see the animals marching in two by two…

I’d never made a 100th Birthday cake before, so I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to make one. It was for our close friend’s Granny, who is called Rose, so the request for pink roses on the cake was perfect. The cake was a light fruit cake, a delicious recipe from an old cook book that our Mum has, great for this time of year!  Click here for the recipe.

IMG_3133I love being asked to make cakes that are a bit different and this one was definitely different! Trudy said she wanted a cake for her husband that incorporated his 2 loves – cows and football. With a cake like this, it’s not something that you can google to find a cake to copy and I had no idea what it was going to look like until I started making the cows. Click here to keep reading.
