This week was biscuit week on the GBBO and we really enjoyed the episode. I loved the idea of making a biscuit mask and might try it one day with the girls, I think they would really enjoy decorating their own masks. I have never made garibaldi biscuit so we were looking forward to trying them out. Click here to see how we got on.

Yey, GBBO is back! We all enjoyed watching the first episode and getting to know this years bakers. I hadn’t made a red velvet cake for ages, so I was really looking forward to making this and sharing it over the weekend with friends and family. The girls were also very enthusiastic to have a go at the technical challenges again. Click here to see how we got on.

Several months before Chloe’s 3rd Birthday she suddenly announced one morning that she wanted a panda Birthday cake. She’s always loved pandas, just like Emily and her favourite cuddly toy is a panda too. She was also specific and wanted clouds and turquoise balloons on her cake. Click here to see what I made.

Over the summer we took the girls to see The Jungle Book at the open air theatre at Hever Castle, Emily absolutely loved it and decided she wanted a Jungle Book themed party for her 6th Birthday. So I set about designing a cake – she was quite specific about the things she wanted on the cake – a waterfall, a tree with the number 6 hanging off it, Mowgli, Baloo and the baby elephant. Click here to see what I created.

I saw this recipe in the Waitrose magazine last Christmas but didn’t get round to making it. It’s a recipe from John Whaite (who won GBBO in 2012) and it’s a perfect Christmas flavour combination of gingerbread and mincemeat, yummy! Click here to see the recipe.

I volunteered to make some Christmas cupcakes for Emily’s Rainbow’s group for their final session of the year as they were having a Christmas party. Emily requested something with snowflakes, which is good as they were quick and easy to make. I also made the same for her teachers as Christmas presents too. Click here to find out more.

Christmas cakes are my favourite type of cake to decorate, it’s how Em and I first got into cake decorating when we were little. We always used to choose a design and have a go at making it. It always makes me feel Christmassy! This year I decided to make a big cake, as you can never have enough fruit cake. Click here to find out more about my Christmas bird house cake.
