A couple of years ago we hosted Christmas with my sister-in-law, hubby and our nephew, I wanted to make a chocolate log but really wanted to make something slightly different. One of my favourite flavours is chocolate orange which feels like quite a Christmassy flavour, so I adapted a chocolate log recipe and this was the result! Click here to find out more.

img_1295.jpgI was a  bit disappointed with last weeks challenge as it was another one that was hard to replicate at home without the special equipment. So I decided to make it anyway but made flat pancakes instead of the balls. The flavours sounded really good, so I was still keen to have a go. Click  here to see how I got on.

I love pavlova so I was looking forward to making this recipe. Apart from the fact it’s vegan it looked like a normal pavlova! I have to admit to this one not being entirely vegan – I used normal white chocolate and a normal yoghurt (I figured they weren’t the “technical” part of the challenge, wouldn’t alter the overall taste/appearance and I didn’t have them!).

Like all of the bakers, I hadn’t heard of Puits d’Amour either so I was intrigued to try them out this weekend. I also have to admit that I’m not sure I have ever made a creme pat and I think the last time I made choux pastry was when I was at school! So this week was definitely a new challenge! I think I must be one of the only people who actually liked blancmange when I was little! So this recipe definitely appealed and sounded very yummy. I had a bit of help from Emily with the biscuits, but it was a tricky one for a toddler to do! Click here to see how we got on.

It’s been a while since I made some cupcakes, especially ones that were an usual flavour and not just vanilla/chocolate with decorations on. So when I decided to go down to London for the afternoon to meet my best friend’s baby, I offered to make some cupcakes to take. I’ve already got a lot of rhubarb (I’ve made rhubarb and raspberry Frangipane tart, rhubarb crumble muffins, and I still have about 750g left!) so I decided to bake something with rhubarb. PC084580.JPGThis year I decided to try something very different for my Christmas cake, rather than doing something traditional I thought I would do something silly! I’d seen a photo of a turkey cake and thought I would try something similar. I also wanted to try a different flavoured Christmas cake but still wanted it to be a fruit cake so it would keep. Click  here to try out this yummy recipe.

In a mad rush yesterday I thought I would try and squeeze in this weeks technical challenge before we went away on holiday and it meant that we had some baked goodies to eat while we’re away. Click here to see how I got on making the fortune cookies.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt was our parents 40th wedding anniversary on the 30th July so not surprisingly Em and I decided to make them a cake as a present! Celebrating 40 years of marriage is a wonderful occasion, so it had to be a very special cake for two very special people. Last weekend I got to make a christening cake for my niece, Emily. Becky sent me a photo of a cake she’d seen on Pinterest and asked if I could make something similar. Click here to keep reading.
